A strange situation to find yourself in
How many 5 year olds could you take in a fight? I was asked this a few months ago and I said 60.  These guys think I could only take 28 which is silly.  I could take 60.  What’s your score? http://www.justsayhi.com/bb/fight5

They know what they want
A while back we talked with Susan Wu at Charles Rivers about CHALQ.  She was excited with the idea of Fantasy Sports, but was primarily focused on investments in companies that provided, traded, or included virtual goods. That was months ago.  I’m still learning how VC firms operate (I actually don’t talk to the VC much at all…that goes to Napoleon).  I wonder if Susan was...

I reblogged Fred's post because...
When I read Seth’s post I kept thinking about Amazon. We use Amazon’s EC2 and S3 services with CHALQ. Amazon’s services are called a ‘platform’ but does it have any parallels to an operating system? I need to think about this more.

Eat it
From the Register and Marc Andreessen: Microsoft set up a Santa Bot that children could talk to online.  Below is the conversation tha caused them to pull it. Didn’t Burger King or some other fast food restaurant do something similar?

Microsoft's Santa Bot Dirty Talks Children
El Reg says: pizza (pi)
Santa says: Yum! What do you want for Christmas, El Reg?
El Reg says: Maybe you shouldn't eat so much! You are quite large!
Santa says: My elves will get right on that. And what else are you wishing for this year, El Reg?
El Reg says: Maybe you shouldn't eat it?
Santa says: See if you can get someone else to eat it!
El Reg says: Eat it
Santa says: No thank you. I don't eat things!

Santa says: You want me to eat what?!? It's fun to talk about oral sex, but I want to chat about something else...

Why sign a term sheet with a no shop provision if...
I don’t know if this is common or not, but Nivi at Venture Hacks seems to think it is prevalent enough to point out more than once.  I know most entrepreneurs want to get the financing over quickly to return to product developement, but signing a term sheet with a no shop agreement is likely to send you back a month or more if the VC doesn’t end up funding the company.  I can see the...

Reblogging - Fred Wilson
I reblogged that last post just because I wanted to know what it was like to do it.  The biggest problem I see is that people may think this is my content.  The source is tucked away at the end of the post and is hardly noticeable.  How about after the title “Social Blogging” have a dash and then: “From XXXXXXX Blog” or Social Blogging - “From (URL HERE)” ...

Social Blogging →
I came across this highly reblogged quote about tumblr last night: I think it needs a new classification. “Blog” is misleading and doesn’t describe the experience of using it. Maybe something like “sharing community” or “facebook but with stuff.” It stuck in my brain and woke me up at 4:30 in the morning. Because I’ve been thinking the same thing. Yesterday I drew this chart on our...

Preparing for your draft
Looking at my fantasy rankings this year and my awful performance across 3 leagues I think I found three problems in my approach this year that should be easy to fix for next season.  The first was my draft preparation.  This season, for the first time, not only did I come up with my own rankings for players, I projected the top 25-50 players across the NFL at each position.  While it is good to...
