SMU vs Navy
Take a quick look at this box score.  There are no misprints there.  Navy did not attempt a single pass all game and beat SMU by four touchdowns (they missed an XP). The SMU offense was completely useless in Annapolis where it rained all game and the winds were swirling.  It at least raises some interesting questions about the Run & Shoot offense that June Jones has implemented. With no...

Free the Airwaves
thegongshow: I just signed a petition to open up the radio airwaves that sit between broadcast TV stations.  The purpose of opening it up would be to enable more innovation such as Bluetooth and WiFi. Without open, unlicensed spectrum, neither of these technologies would exist.  Both of these technologies are built on top of junk spectrum that can’t travel well.  If we open up unused spectrum...

Aupeo! Beta Sign-Up Now Open →
gtmcknight: I usually don’t care about signing up for every other “next big thing” with music startups, but I had a chance to hang out with Armin while in Berlin, and this site is going to be AMAZING. Just signed up for the beta.  Can’t wait to see how far the site has come along.

Expanding my Network Part II
I originally posted that I was looking to expand my network in April.  It turned out great.  I was proactive in attending more NextNY events, NY Tech meetups, and met with some web entrepreneurs.  I’d like to take it a step further as I am on the verge of some major changes and would like to meet with some New York VC’s for some advice. I want to participate full time in the startup...

Keep an Eye on the Bailout →
It seems pretty stupid after all of the talk about transparency and accountability to black out compensation to BNYM right off the bat.  To their credit, it sounds like Bank of New York Mellon is not expecting these numbers to remain private.

Bill Simmons on fixing fantasy basketball →
I think he misses the main problem: Fantasy basketball, like baseball, isn’t structured well for head to head leagues.

The Bailout Explained
dihard: I was a bit caught up the past two weeks and did not get a chance to write about everything I wanted to, so bear with me as we go through some week-olds. The first, what the heck is this bailout? What will it do? Why did the first one get voted down? What’s the difference between the first and the second plan? And WHY oh why isn’t it working yet?!! What is this bailout? The bailout was...

Obama negotiating with Iraq? →
I have no idea if it’s true, but it seems like it would be in violation of the Logan Act.  Or maybe not, Pelosi gets away with it.

Hot Chip and Okkervil River
feedback: Saw Hot Chip Saturday night at Terminal 5. The concert was fun, but there were no surprises. Hot Chip makes ambient, electronic music. It was cool to see Hot Chip translate their recorded sound into a live band. Nothing disappointing, nothing overwhelming. Last night, I saw Okkervil River at Webster Hall. The band sold out the venue for two nights. Don’t have much to say here. Music...

Be Wrong/Bad
If you find that you’re beating yourself up because you “knew” you should have started another player in fantasy this week, just stop it.  Go with your gut and be wrong or or bad.  It’s much better than going against your better judgement and worrying about it later.  If you’re bad consistently, do the opposite. The other 11 members of your league, who really...

What's Your Tumblr Number?
joelaz: Tumblr assigns a sequential number to each site on their service.  The lower the number, the older the site.  To find your number, login to Tumblr, go to the Following Page, then click on the name of your site in the top right corner of the screen just below the “log out” link.  Now, look at the URL in your browser address bar and note the number at the end of the URL.  Mine looks like...

Google 2001 Index →
Found this via TechCrunch. The index is from January 2001 and I had fun with a few searches. 1. Al Qaeda - This was the first one I tried. 2. Wilco 3. The Strokes 4. Shock Fusion - My brother’s bubble startup 5. Al Gore Global warming. Which led me to this funny article.
