Which of these things doesn't belong
Watching Comedy Central at 3 AM on Saturday night.  They’ve targeted me as needing: Porn videos of 18-22 year olds. Male enhancement pills. Star Wars DVDs Meals at Friday’s Heart Disease Medicine? What a waste of money.

It sucks being a commissioner
From Deadspin: “Jeff had just started at a new job about two months ago, was finally getting comfortable in his new environment, and apparently thought it was his place to be the guy to get the office tourney pool going. Taking the reins and being “commissioner” for one of these things is undoubtedly a giant pain in the ass. On top of recruiting enough participants to make it...

Cool Maps
I love this blog on cool/strange maps that my brother showed me yesterday. I saw a similar map on Brad Feld’s blog showing Neil (see comments) Armstrong’s moon walk laid over a baseball diamond.  This site chose a soccer field. From the map of “Area Codes Ludacris Claims to Have Hoes”: “Ludacris has a disproportionate ho-zone in rural Nebraska. He might favor white...

How Tumblr makes me better
siminoff: I really believe that blogging has made me a much better founder and CEO of SimulScribe.  Blogging has become such an important communications means with the market and really understanding it is hard without doing it. I started this blog because I saw what Fred Wilson, Josh Kopelman and Bijan Sabet were doing and realized that the reason they understood the space so well is because...

No hate involved
From CBS:  Rabbi Ohana says as he ran back down the station’s stairs two of Hussein’s friends got up from this bench and chased him out of the station. “They were screaming ‘Allahu Akhbar (God is great) and punching my face,” Ohana said. But Ohana says things came to a head when Hussein was hit by a car as he ran out onto Fourth Avenue. EMS officials confirm...

Toast, Ebay, Too Many Clicks, Magic Pixie Dust →
When I think how any action should work in CHALQ whether it is picking up players on the waiver, drafting a player during an online draft, making a trade, comparing players statistics etc… I always think about the balance of ease of use (less clicks the better) and richness of the content. When the balance is perfect, things ‘just work’.  I call this magic pixie dust (not sure...

Quick thoughts on NCAA brackets
Note to CHALQ: I have to fill out the same bracket or close variations of the same bracket on all systems I get invited into.  No import options are available on any system. Don’t screw that up.

Update on the USV job
I’m no longer being considered for the open analyst position.  Didn’t make it to the interview rounds.  Ugh.  I hate losing, and it pisses me off.*  * I carried my last place finishes in two of three fantasy football leagues this season well past the Super Bowl.

I did go to space camp in 5th grade
Me: Just found a way to feed my favorite artists from Last.fm each week onto my blog. This is cool.
Trevor: i think its funny how your approach to becoming a geek is so different than others
Trevor: or did you go to space camp?
Me: I did go to space camp in 5th grade
Me: but between then and now I wasn't so sure if I kept it up

Great service from Time Warner!
My time warner cable box manages to crap out completely hours before the premier of John Adams on HBO.  Awesome. Call customer service and…. They’ll be here on Thursday.  Thanks.

A first for me
I started a blog for many reasons and getting invited into beta testing rounds was not one of them. Maybe I shouldn’t be impressed when these sorts of things happen; after all Tumblr is supposed to increase my visibility to other people. However this was the first time I’ve seen such a direct benefit from my tumblelog. I posted that I wanted to get into xobni on Friday. By Saturday...

Flip Flop
I’ve managed to fall in love with, out of love with, and turned to indifferent towarads friendfeed.  I’m here, there. I think this is because I found out I can’t feed in my Tumblr posts, or haven’t been able to figure out how to yet.  Maybe I’m not complicated enough for it.

Let me in Xobni
I’ve been wanting to try out Xobni for a while.  I’ve tried emailing them and tried to get the badge to promote here. Still haven’t received it.  Anyone know how I can cut in line?

Draft the best available player
After looking at two 2008 baseball drafts I think position scarcity is taken into consideration too often in drafts.  That is since second base or catcher aren’t ‘deep’ positions in terms of impact fantasy players, the top players at those positions are overvalued. The reasoning behind this is that if you can create large gaps in productivity at a certain position between...

Thoughts about emails that starts with "Check out...
bijan: How many times have you sent an email to a friend that started out with the words: “Check out this link” and then it’s a link to a photo, video, news article or maybe just something else interesting or funny. Sending out that type of email is typical, happens every day. But it doesn’t belong in your email box in my view. While personal publishing is growing like crazy these days,...

Concerts in NYC
List of concerts one of my friends sent me that he is attending.  I will try and  make it to all of these except the April 19th date when I’ll be in Dallas.  April 19th: John Brown’s Body (cool reggae band) at Bowery Ballroom May 2nd: Rjd2 at Bowery Ballroom. Panic 2 weeks before opening day...
I get daily updates on Yahoo! about all of my fantasy players and I also have RSS feeds set up to make sure I don’t miss any reports from any player on my roster or watch list.  This morning has me regretting one of my picks 2 weeks before the season even starts: From Rotowire Re: Ricky Weeks - Mar 9 Weeks was 0-for-3 on Sunday to drop his batting average to .130 this spring. ...

South by Southwest
Austin is cool for many reasons, and one of those is South by Southwest.  I used to attend in high school when my brother had a booth at the trade show in Palmer Auditorium, and I went in college to see upcoming bands.  I’m upset I wont make it this year, but hopefully next year I’ll be down their showing off CHALQ or representing a VC group.  Maybe I’ll be there just for fun. ...

Projections results on the way
I know I promised results from the projections analysis I was running.  While I believe I have found the best system for CHALQ to use, I have a few uncertanties with the results of certain metrics used.  Once I can verify that these are accurate I will post the results. The systems being tested again were: Marcel ZIPS Bill James Rotoworld All test were run based on 2007 projections vs...
