Trouble finding doctors
Taylor pulled (or tore) his hamstring in our softball game last night. He is going to see a doctor today that was recommended by a family friend. Before he had the appointment set up we looked online for sites with patient reviews of doctors in NY. I was suprised to find that web 2.0 doesn’t seem to have a good solution for this. I tried Health World Web and ZocDoc, neither of which were...
Hunter's last three messages to me
Hunter: (July 10,2008) Just found a Creed cd at home. We have it made now. Eghh haaa!
Hunter: (July 26, 2008) I just had a flashback of playing creed on my guitar at 2 in the morning.
Hunter: (July 28, 2008) I was serious about playing "My Sacrifice" on the guitar drunk too.
I’d like to say that global warming was evident during my visit, but that is not...

Ever get bored at work?
Nearly all my friends complain that at some point, every week, they get bored at work. They have hours to kill and nothing to do. Maybe they are procrastinating, but mostly I believe that it’s just tough to fill up 40-70 hours of pure work at a corporate job. This is as true with my friends in investment banking as it is with friends that work in real estate or technology.
The problem is...

I really like this redesign. First, for newcomers, all of the ‘site action’ tid bits on the front page are really cool. Also, moving the second level of navigation from the top to the left hand side was a good move. It used to be pretty confusing and now it just makes sense.

Hunter’s second summer mix. I would follow up with mine but I have been listening to 3 things and I’ve posted them all before. Kings of Leon, Wilco, and Does it Offend You Yeah? Need some new stuff.
My Analytics
I have three services tracking activity on this blog: Google Analytics, FeedBurner, and Lijit. Other than all three agreeing that not many people read this blog, the feedback is not conclusive. Here are some stats that are confusing me:
Google Analytics reports 34% higher number of page views than Lijit. GA reports 16% more page views than FeedBurner.
Google Analytics and FeedBurner agree on...
Rich Harden Going to the Cubs →
I can’t think of a better person for the Cubs to add to the Prior/Wood legacy. This makes no sense…even with Sabbathia going to Milwaukee.

Deadspin is now basically a tabloid. If you want the most in depth coverage of A-Rod’s divorce, Deadspin is the place to go. If you want funny sports stories, not so much anymore.

New York Tech Meetup
I used to go to these all the time when I first moved to NY in late 2006, but stopped attending after my brother and I sat through a couple meetups with some pretty rotten presenters. Last night I decided to give it another shot and I was impressed by the quality of the presenters and the companies they were demoing.
The coolest company from last night had to be Transclick. The company was...
Facebook Was Shut Off in China Today
rickyv:
They could have remained on if they had played by China’s rules and allowed the government to censor their content. But unlike Google and Yahoo and everybody else, Mark Zuckerberg refused to play by their rules and told them to go fuck themselves.
Hats off to you, Mark.
