Who is going to want this job?  I love SMU, but I think it is going to be a long time until we have a competitive program in football again.  I’d be very impressed to see Orsini deliver on his “top 25” initiative. 

Who do I want to coach at SMU next year? 

1. Major Applewhite - I know this is risky but I think he would be able to recruit Texas well.  He’s also had ‘head coach’ written all over him since he was QB at UT.
2. Terry Bowden - Admittedly I don’t know much about him except that he had an undefeated season at Auburn and he is a decent football commentator.  He would bring some much needed exposure to the program and is considered a ‘big name’ hire.
3. Turner Gill - He won at Nebraska as an assistant, and he is starting to win in Bufallo.  This would be a natural progression in his carreer.
