I was reading a blog post about Tivo today (can’t remember where) and all I could think about was how close they came to being Kleenex, Xerox, Coke, or Google.  There was a 1 or 2 year period when DVR or recording something was Tivoing it.  I don’t hear anyone call it that now. 

So how close were they to having the most dominant home entertainment brand?  Who blew it?
